Data protection

The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.

This privacy policy explains what data we collect and what we use it for. It also explains how and for what purpose this is done.

We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

Revocation of your consent to data processing

Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can revoke consent you have already given at any time. To do so, simply send an informal email to the responsible body listed above (datenschutz@freedom-manufaktur.com). The legality of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

Objection to data processing

If you wish to object to the collection, processing or use of your data by us in accordance with these data protection provisions, either in whole or for individual measures, you can address your objection to the above-mentioned responsible body.

Information and deletion

Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right to receive information free of charge at any time about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients, and the purpose of data processing, and, if applicable, a right to correction or deletion of this data. You can contact the responsible body listed above at any time for this and other questions regarding personal data.

Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority about our processing of your personal data. Right to data portability

You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done if it is technically feasible.

SSL or TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or enquiries that you send to us as the site operator, this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ and by the lock symbol in your browser line.

If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Encrypted payment transactions on this website

If, after concluding a contract that involves payment, you are required to provide us with your payment details (e.g. account number for direct debit authorisation), this data is required for payment processing.

Payment transactions using common payment methods (Visa/MasterCard, direct debit) are carried out exclusively via an encrypted SSL or TLS connection. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ and by the lock symbol in your browser line.

With encrypted communication, your payment details that you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

3. Data collection on our website

Cookies

Some of our web pages use cookies. Cookies do not harm your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies serve to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser.

Most of the cookies we use are so-called ‘session cookies’. They are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognise your browser the next time you visit.

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If you deactivate cookies, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

Cookies that are necessary for the electronic communication process or for the provision of certain functions requested by you (e.g. shopping basket function) are stored on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing cookies for the technically error-free and optimised provision of its services. If other cookies (e.g. cookies for analysing your surfing behaviour) are stored, these are treated separately in this privacy policy.

Server log files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

Browser type and browser version
Operating system used
Referrer URL
Host name of the accessing computer
Time of the server request
IP address

This data is not merged with other data sources.

The basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the fulfilment of a contract or pre-contractual measures.

Contact form

If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your details from the enquiry form, including the contact details you provided there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

The data entered in the contact form is therefore processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time. To do so, simply send us an informal email. The legality of the data processing operations carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

The personal data collected will be automatically deleted after your request has been processed. Mandatory legal provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.

Registration on this website

You can register on our website to use additional features on the site. We only use the data you enter for the purpose of using the respective offer or service for which you have registered. The mandatory information requested during registration must be provided in full. Otherwise, we will reject the registration.

For important changes, such as changes to the scope of the offer or technically necessary changes, we will use the email address provided during registration to inform you.

The data entered during registration is processed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke your consent at any time. To do so, simply send us an informal email. The legality of the data processing that has already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data collected during registration will be stored by us for as long as you are registered on our website and will then be deleted. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

Comment function on this website

For the comment function on this page, in addition to your comment, information about the time the comment was created, your email address and, if you are not posting anonymously, your chosen username will also be stored.

Storage of IP addresses

Our comment function stores the IP addresses of users who post comments. Since we do not check comments on our site before they are published, we need this data in order to be able to take action against the author in the event of legal violations such as insults or propaganda.

Subscribing to comments

As a user of the site, you can subscribe to comments after registering. You will receive a confirmation email to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided. You can unsubscribe from this feature at any time via a link in the info emails. In this case, the data entered when subscribing to comments will be deleted; however, if you have provided us with this data for other purposes and elsewhere (e.g. newsletter subscription), it will remain with us.

Storage period for comments

The comments and associated data (e.g. IP address) are stored and remain on our website until the commented content has been completely deleted or the comments have to be deleted for legal reasons (e.g. offensive comments).

Legal basis

Comments are stored on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can revoke your consent at any time. To do so, simply send us an informal email. The legality of data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.

Processing of data (customer and contract data)

We collect, process and use personal data only to the extent necessary for the establishment, content or modification of the legal relationship (inventory data). This is done on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the fulfilment of a contract or pre-contractual measures. We collect, process and use personal data relating to the use of our website (usage data) only to the extent necessary to enable the user to use the service or to bill for it.

The customer data collected will be deleted after completion of the order or termination of the business relationship. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

4. Analysis tools and advertising

Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses so-called ‘cookies’. These are text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

The storage of Google Analytics cookies is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both its website and its advertising.

Browser plugin

You can prevent cookies from being stored by adjusting your browser software settings accordingly; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Objection to data collection

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set to prevent your data from being collected on future visits to this website: Disable Google Analytics.

For more information on how Google Analytics handles user data, please refer to Google’s privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de.

Order data processing

We have concluded a contract with Google for order data processing and fully implement the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Demographic characteristics in Google Analytics

This website uses the ‘demographic characteristics’ function of Google Analytics. This allows reports to be created that contain information about the age, gender and interests of site visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising by Google and visitor data from third-party providers. This data cannot be attributed to any specific person. You can deactivate this function at any time via the ad settings in your Google account or generally prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as described in the section ‘Objection to data collection’.

Google Analytics Remarketing

Our websites use the functions of Google Analytics Remarketing in conjunction with the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

This feature allows the advertising target groups created with Google Analytics Remarketing to be linked to the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. This allows interest-based, personalised advertising messages that have been tailored to you based on your previous usage and surfing behaviour on one device (e.g. mobile phone) to also be displayed on another of your devices (e.g. tablet or PC).

If you have given your consent, Google will link your web and app browsing history to your Google account for this purpose. This allows the same personalised advertising messages to be displayed on every device you log into with your Google account.

To support this feature, Google Analytics collects Google-authenticated user IDs, which are temporarily linked to our Google Analytics data to define and create target groups for cross-device advertising.

You can permanently opt out of cross-device remarketing/targeting by disabling personalised advertising in your Google account; to do so, follow this link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/.

The summary of the data collected in your Google account is based solely on your consent, which you can give or withdraw at Google (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). For data collection processes that are not merged into your Google account (e.g. because you do not have a Google account or have objected to the merger), the collection of data is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The legitimate interest arises from the fact that the website operator has an interest in the anonymous analysis of website visitors for advertising purposes.

Further information and the data protection provisions can be found in Google’s privacy policy at: https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.

Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking

This website uses Google AdWords. AdWords is an online advertising programme provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States (“Google”).

We use conversion tracking as part of Google AdWords. When you click on an ad placed by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is set. Cookies are small text files that the Internet browser stores on the user’s computer. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used to personally identify users. If the user visits certain pages of this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognise that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page.

Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers. The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users. If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can object to this use by easily deactivating the Google conversion tracking cookie via your Internet browser under user settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.

The storage of ‘conversion cookies’ is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both its website and its advertising.
For more information about Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking, please refer to Google’s privacy policy: https://www.google.de/policies/privacy/.

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If you deactivate cookies, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

Facebook Pixel

Our website uses the visitor action pixel from Facebook, Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (‘Facebook’) to measure conversions.

This allows the behaviour of page visitors to be tracked after they have been redirected to the provider’s website by clicking on a Facebook advertisement. This allows the effectiveness of Facebook ads to be evaluated for statistical and market research purposes and future advertising measures to be optimised.

The data collected is anonymous to us as the operator of this website; we cannot draw any conclusions about the identity of the users. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with the Facebook Data Use Policy. This enables Facebook to place advertisements on Facebook pages and outside of Facebook. As the website operator, we have no influence on this use of the data.

You can find further information on protecting your privacy in Facebook’s privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.

You can also deactivate the ‘Custom Audiences’ remarketing function in the ad settings section at https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen. To do this, you must be logged in to Facebook.

If you do not have a Facebook account, you can deactivate usage-based advertising from Facebook on the website of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement/.

VG WORT

Web Beacons Some of our blog articles contain web beacons from the Verwertungsgesellschaft WORT (VG WORT). The operating company is Verwertungsgesellschaft WORT, a legally competent association by virtue of the award, Goethestraße 49, 80336 Munich, Germany.
VG WORT manages royalties from secondary exploitation rights to literary works for authors. The distribution of royalties for online texts is tied to certain criteria (e.g., text length, minimum number of visitors per year). VG WORT’s web beacons are invisible graphics (beacons), and cookies are also used in the measurement process. This allows information about visitor traffic on these pages to be evaluated. VG WORT uses the data collected in this way to determine whether the respective text has reached distribution-related thresholds in the calendar year.

The data you enter to subscribe to the newsletter (e.g., email address) is stored on CleverReach’s servers in Germany or Ireland.

Our newsletters sent with CleverReach enable us to analyze the behavior of newsletter recipients. This allows us to analyze, among other things, how many recipients opened the newsletter message and how often each link in the newsletter was clicked. Conversion tracking also allows us to analyze whether a predefined action (e.g., purchase of a product on our website) was performed after clicking on the link in the newsletter. Further information on data analysis by the CleverReach newsletter can be found at: https://www.cleverreach.com/de/funktionen/reporting-und-tracking/.

Data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The legality of any data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

If you do not want CleverReach to analyze your data, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for this purpose in every newsletter message. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter directly on the website.

The data you provide to us for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. If you unsubscribe from the newsletter, your data will be deleted within one week – both from our servers and from CleverReach’s servers. Data stored by us for other purposes (e.g., email addresses for the member area) remains unaffected.

For further information, please see CleverReach’s privacy policy at: https://www.cleverreach.com/de/datenschutz/.
